Happy Friday and happy almost weekend! I thought I would use this Friday blog post to share what I carry in my bag. People have emailed and messaged me asking about makeup routines and also about what I carry with me on a daily basis. Let me start by saying, it’s a LOT. I typically work very long days, anywhere from 10-14 hours, so I tend to carry everything (seriously) with me.
I decided to use my York Tote as the bag pictured, because it is my absolute favorite bag for work. It has a built in (padded!) sleeve for laptops, meaning I don’t have to search for my laptop sleeve all the time. I also like that it has giant pockets on both sides of the laptop sleeve and compartments in each of the giant pockets. If you are thinking about a work bag, I highly suggest this one, especially if you carry around your laptop every single day! I’m not going to go into detail about every mini bag that I carry, just kind of want to show you the layout of each one, and if you have any questions about any specific product, feel free to reach out in any manner! Also, would love to know what you carry in your bag! Do we carry anything similar?!
This is basically just an overview of everything that I carry with me every day. All of this fits seamlessly into my bag. The only things not pictures are my laptop charger (it looks super gross) and sometimes an extra pair of shoes or flats.
I am going to spare you the details of every single makeup item here, since I did a makeup post just a week or so ago. You can check out all the details of my beauty favorites here. Most of these items I have been using for over a year, and swear by all of them.
The only thing I have not touched on are my brushes, which I obviously love because I use them haha. For my foundation, I use a real techniques beauty sponge (not pictured), which is a great dupe for the beauty blender. I use a real techniques powder brush, and I’m going to warn you it’s a bit massive! However, I like that it doesn’t make me powder cake on or look gritty on my skin. It does a good job of covering my face, leaving my foundation more matte, and not getting loose powder all over the place (this happens to me way too much).
I use an eco tools brush for my bronzer. It is labeled as a powder brush, but I personally love it for bronzer. It’s a bit more fanned out, so I don’t end up looking crazy dark or orange. I use a real techniques angled brush for my blush application. I use two blushes for my face: the MAC blush I use across my entire cheekbone, and the Revlon blush I use just up near my eye (honestly no idea for the name of that part of my face) for a bit of color. I use a mac eyeshadow brush for all of my eyeshadow application. I have probably had this brush for about 6 or 7 years, which explains why all the words have rubbed off. That’s basically it. I don’t want to bore you with so much writing, so please ask any questions or reach out! I linked these brushes at various locations, sorry for any confusion. I just wanted to link them so that you all could actually see what they look like, see the description of them, and the reviews. Also, I am linking everything not because I am thinking, OMG please go buy this now, you need to. I just want you all to people to check out anything you are interested in and get any more info!
This is kind of my own personal emergency/ everything I need kit. Since I am all over the place for work all the time, I like to make sure that I am covered. Basically, if you have any mini crisis, I got you covered. I carry some form of aspirin with me all the time, since I tend to get headaches from staring at computers all day. I carry hair ties because I prefer to drive with my hair up, especially for longer commutes. I also carry deodorant because I start to get funky after all that running around. I am going to spare you all the details (and links) on all of these because I know you know the uses and where to purchase!
I carry hand lotion with me every single day, since I deal with so much paperwork. I find that it keeps my hands really dry, so I like to make sure they stay hydrated, and a good scented one never hurts. I also keep dry shampoo with me because my hair tends to get extra greasy by the end of the day. I prefer the Batisse Dry Shampoo, and I like the tropical one because it smells like coconut. It does spray on white and appears very heavy, but it brushes out (with brush or hands) very easily. I also carry hair spray with me, usually just for touch ups or some volume when my hair starts to go flat. I have no particular preference for the mini bottles I carry with me, I usually just go to the travel section in Target and grab whatever is there.
I also carry bandaids with me, in case of any cuts or anything, but mainly because I find some shoes to give me blisters. Which is also why I carry my Sole Serum with me! Long days in heels, and even some flats requires me to use this just to help out my feet a little bit. The perfume is obviously in case I get extra funky, or have a meeting to go to. The perfume that I have pictured here is one of my new favorites from Vera Wang. I have all three scents, and they’re all very light and a nice refreshing mist, rather than a full-blown perfume. In case you are ever with me during a weekday, I have you covered!
Yes, I do have a separate bag just for my lipsticks. I’m a big fan of lipsticks and since I wear it sooo long every day, I need to make sure that I can touch it up. I also carry some extra glosses and lipsticks with me in case I feel the need to switch colors. I took a picture of my daily favorites that I tend to wear most days of the week. I also carry empty mascara wands for my eyelash extensions and my eyebrows. Seriously, my eyebrows get out of control some days!
