30 Years

If you happen to follow me on snapchat, you saw that my parents celebrated their 30th anniversary recently (July 20th)! I thought I would share some tidbits and highlights from the celebration. We did quite a few different things in order to celebrate.
I threw them a surprise party with all of their friends and our relatives. There was a ton of food and a LOT of desserts. The first sets of photos in this post are from the party. I just wanted to share a few highlights and some of the simple decorations I did.
On their actual anniversary, we went to Barn & Company Restaurant in the city for some amazing BBQ. Seriously, there was not a thing there that was bad. Everything we ate was amazing, including all their dipping sauces (see photos below)! I came to find Barn & Company via 8 Hospitality Group, which is seeking out new ways to change dining in Chicago. They represent a lot of really cool restaurants and I have yet to be disappointed with any of them!

Enjoying an Old Fashioned with dinner. It was STRONG, but so good!

This was the appetizer plate that we had. It had these chicken rolls that were incredible! We also had fried pickles, which were surprisingly really good (I usually do not like pickles). Not that anything on this plate was remotely bad, but my favorite were the wings. They were smoked and so so juicy…… they were incredible. If you are ever in the city, be sure to drop by Barn & Company, I promise you will not be disappointed.

  1. Congratulations on 30 years to your parents, Denise! I swear these days people don’t treasure marriage like the older generations do, many are quick to give up. My parents has been married for gosh, more than 40 years! Sure sometimes they look like they’re about to kill each other but honestly I don’t think they can be without the other.
